Elections for the 2010-11 AAA Executive Committee and At-Large Council positions have come to an end and the nominees have been elected. New committee members are as follows:
On August 6-10, 2011, the American Accounting Association will hold its Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado. The theme for our 2011 Annual Meeting is "Engage to Make a Difference." This theme builds on our strategic vision of thought leadership. Striving for thought leadership through our research, teaching, involvement in practice, and standard setting works best when we are all engaged and participating. Academic and practitioner members from around the world are invited to submit completed research papers and proposals for a variety of concurrent sessions. Submissions must be made Online at the 2011 Annual Meeting Call for Submissions and must be completed by 11:59 pm EST on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 to be considered for inclusion in the program.
The Screening Committee for the Notable and Distinguished Contributions to Accounting Literature Award is currently accepting nominations of research of exceptional merit for the 2011 Distinguished Contributions to Accounting Literature Award. The Committee invites nominations of uniqueness and magnitude of contribution to accounting education, practice and/or future accounting research originality and innovative content; clarity and organization of exposition; soundness and appropriateness of methodology. The nominations deadline is January 31, 2011.
Another annual meeting of the AAA has come and gone and, by all accounts, was a huge success. We surpassed our goal of 500 fully-equiped backpacks for the Service Project; the Career Connection and Fair had record numbers of attendees; and the overall number of meeting registrants exceeded our expectations!
Our most sincere thanks go to all of you who attended, presented, volunteered, or participated in any way. It is because of you that this meeting was so successful.

2012 Accounting Ph.D. Rookie Recruiting and Research Camp
December 7-9, 2012 | Coral Gables, Florida
We are pleased to announce that we will be partnering with the University of Miami to present the 3rd annual Accounting Rookie Recruiting and Research Camp. “Rookie Camp” is a 2-day forum for faculty and recruiters to meet and network with PhD candidates, attend 15-minute research presentations by job-market candidates, and interview a large number of job-market candidates before making decisions about recruiting “fly-outs”. This year’s camp is already breaking attendance records with over 138 registered job candidates from over 74 schools. The recruiter registration deadline is November 1, 2012. The preliminary program for the 2011 Annual Meeting is now available online. You can begin to prepare for your time in Denver by reviewing the descriptions of panels and discussions, as well as abstracts from papers accepted for presentation. (Full text-papers will be available for review 30 days before the start of the Annual Meeting.) You can choose to use the Google search box at the top of the program page to search for specific authors or topics or you may choose to use the "View Sessions by Section" drop-down menu to see all sessions offered by a specific section.
This year the 2012 Annual Meeting of the AAA takes place in Washington, D.C. at the Gaylord National Hotel and Conference Center in National Harbor, Maryland...a beautiful property located directly on the Potomac River and able to host all of our member events under one roof!
The theme for the 2012 AAA Annual Meeting is "Seeds of Innovation." This theme focuses on the broad need for greater innovation in accounting scholarship.
