    The Future of Academic Research

    With both an Executive MBA (Emory University) and an MLS (Florida State University), Judy Luther created Informed Strategies to bring a customer-oriented perspective to the design and development of electronic products and services. Prior to consulting she managed sales at the Institute for Scientific Information (creator of the Impact Factor) and at the Faxon Company (a subscription agent), preceded by a career managing academic libraries (Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and Stetson University).

    Active professionally she was CoChair of the NISO Working Group that created SERU (Shared Electronic Resources Understanding) as a Best Practice to streamline licensing of content that has been adopted globally and she led the creation of the Juried Product Development Forums to collect buyer feedback on new products during the Charleston Conference.


    Author of the seminal White Paper on Electronic Journal Usage Statistics, she serves on the International Advisory Board of COUNTER which coordinates best practices on usage data of digital content. Her articles on industry trends and innovations have been featured in Library Journal and she is a frequent speaker at both library and publisher meetings. A Past President of the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP), Judy has served on the boards of several journals including the Journal of Electronic Publishing published by the University of Michigan.
