    Goodbye Dr. Briloff
    intro text:

    Abraham Briloff

This past weekend, I read that Abe Briloff had died.  I remembered reading many of his articles when I was completing my MAS degree and again while completing doctoral studies.  His work had a profound impact on my understanding of financial reporting and disclosure and my understanding of my responsibilities as a CPA to clients and those who relied on a client's financial representations.

A posting was made to AECM this morning that included a URL link to a blog posting on the "Financial Reporting Blog," a feature on the FEI (Financial Executives International) website.  Click the link below to access the posting.

Read the article in full.  Then, view the video and lyrics from Elton John's 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight.'  I agree with the author's statement that "some of the lyrics are poignantly on point."  If you are old enough to have been impacted by Abe Briloff's work, you will surely understand why Elton John's song can bring a tear to your eye.

Goodbye Dr. Briloff.  I was a student of yours from afar.  I wish I had been fortunate enough to attend your classes.
