We have a great program!

We will be meeting in the Gaylord Hotel, Level 3, National Harbor 2-3

Morning:  What are the technologies that are transforming accounting?

8:30 – 8:45

Introductions

8:45 – 10:30

Brian Sommer, Founder of TechVentive, kicks off by providing an overview of the trends and challenges that he sees.  He has been our kick off speaker for the earlier two events, and has done a wonderful job at setting the right tone and challenging the faculty.

10:45 – 12:15

Susan Sparks, CPA and FinancialForce Implementation Consultant.  Susan will introduce the audience to cloud computing and the impact that it has on accounting profession.  FinancialForce is a leading Software as a Service provider, and her experience will allow her to explain from first hand knowledge of the reasons why firms are moving to it – balanced with what they need to be worried about, and then how FinancialForce is able to provide different services and/or business processes to its clients.

12:15 – 1:15:

Lunch

Afternoon:  How are these changes impacting accounting practices?

1:15 – 2:45

Michael P. Cangemi, CPA, an author and business advisor, currently serves as President of Cangemi Company LLC, which he founded in 1968, and has a significant focus on technology, including Continuous Monitoring, Business performance Improvement and Governance, Risk and control enhancement.  Michael will be speaking about Continuous Monitoring – how technology can monitor practices in real time, and make alerts in real time rather than waiting for a subsequent audit.

3:00 – 4:30

Rob Reed, Worldwide Education Evangelist for Splunk, Inc. will share insights into how the huge data sets that are being captured can be explored and understood using visualization tools.  These tools can provide better insights for management to help them understand the complex environments in which they are working… and can add a great "capstone" experience for our students.

4:30 – 4:45

Thanks and wrap up
