There is a related post by Bob Jensen entitled "SEC ISSUES DETAILED STUDY ON MARK-TO-MARKET ACCOUNTING" on Feb 22. I believe Bob posted it under "web resource."

If you want to take the same step, you can click on the tab ROLES --> Teaching --> Resources. This will take you to the Teaching Resources page. On that page, you will see Quick Links with various options to post on the right panel; click on New web resource to add your post.

Or you can navigate to Teacher2Teacher Home Page and follow similar steps.

Or you can add a comment entry to Bob's post. :)

Janet, currently we are hard at work and getting close to having the ability to update/change a member's region and other key fields like email and address automatically from the AAA member database when the member logs into the AAACommons...but we are not quite there yet. So in the interim, I have updated your region and your account email in the Commons. I apologize for the inconvenience to you. Also, we are rolling out the AAACommons websites for the Sections and Regions as each is having their spring meeting. So right now, you won't find much in the AAACommons specifically for the Ohio Region but it will be coming soon.

I ran a quick test and posted a question, then a comment to it.  I could delete the post, but I'm not sure if someone else had made the comment I would have been able to.  We'll run more tests.

I'd question, though, that once a post has comments, whether we should delete them.  If the comment has started a discussion, and is enhancing the community, then I'd say the post was, too.  If, on the other hand, you're worried about inappropriate content, then I think a better approach would be to click on the "report abuse" link for the post.  That will trigger an AAA review, and we'll remove inappropriate content - and contact the author(s) to let them know our policies and that their efforts weren't appropriate.

    Thoughts?

As the AAACommons rollout progresses, we are seeing a lot of interest from our student and new faculty colleagues.  And I think you're right that giving even more junior students access might spark their imagination that they could become faculty, too.  I'll take this idea to our editorial board and see what we can do!  Thanks!

Can we still delete a post if someone has commented on it?

It will be great if we can share materials with students through AAACommons. This way we can also introduce/promote AAACommons to students. Perhaps we can even increase student membership along the way.

    Hi, Bob,

Right nwo that isn't possible.  You could make the materails available to faculty, and anyone who is an AAA member will be able to get them.  However, right now the content of the system is all password protected.  Our long term goals include making portions of the systems available to the public, and at that point we could have a community to share materials with students...

It would help us with planning to know if others would find this valuyable.... how else could we collaborate with students through the AAACommons?  How many would use this?

    Thanks!

I forgot to mention that you should feel free to update your address in your Commons profile so that it will be correct since we are not sure exactly when the automatic updating will take place.

  • Judy Cothern

All address information in the AAACommons was uploaded from the AAA member database. We are currently working on having profile information in the Commons updated from the AAA member record when a member logs into the Commons, but we are not there yet. Your AAA member record shows a Sauder School, Vancouver address so I believe we have your correct address for mailing purposes. If you would let any colleagues who might have an incorrect address in our member database know that they should go online and update their address at https://members.aaahq.org/cvweb_aaa/MainLogin.shtml or they can contact the AAA office at office@aaahq.org. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We hope to get all of the bugs sorted out in the near future.

Hi, Rick,  The problem was with a new upgrade that HiveLive made, and it was resolved late last night.  Thanks, again, for letting us know as soon as you saw the problem!  J

Rick - you are exactly right, and I'm caught by surprise!  We'll look into it immediately and get back to you.  And thanks for giving us the heads up - Julie

Currently, our authentication process with the AAA member database, does not allow changes to your AAA Login ID and Password. We are working towards a Single Sign On solution that could possibly allow changes to your password in the future.

When you look at the post, you'll see a graphic that is a trash can, just to the right of the "Edit Post" link.  If you click on the trash can, you'll be able to delete your post.

    Hi, Andrea -

I think you're asking about the fields in your profile.  If you're like me, you want to make more information available to the community (rather than the private settings we used during the initial data load). Specifically, you can specify whether every individual field in your profile is open to the community (anyone with an AAACommons ID can see it), open to your network (the people icons that you've clicked on and turned yellow), or restricted (no one can see it but you).

To do this, when you're editing your profile, look at the right side of your screen, usually 1 line below the attribute you want to change.  You'll see the current status for the field, and then an "edit" link. Just click on that, and you can change the privacy settings.

Let me know if this does it!

Hi, Rick - It's taken care of!  Please go back to your profile, and now you should have that option.  Please let us know if you have any problem.  And thanks for the suggestion!  That's what's going to make the Commons the most valuable to all of us!
