    Rich, thank you for pointing this out to us. This is the first I have heard of this type of problem and not having same experience myself,I was not aware there was a glitch. To be sure we are on the same page, when you return to the log in page for the Commons, your username and password are already filled in? We will check it out.

    No, the AAACommons platform does not support revisions without reposting. The current system was set up with the intent of keeping the sequence of revisions intact so one could "go back" to a previous version if needed and also to identify who made the revision.

    To trick Google maps, I'd have to include a different zip code, which creates other problems.  UofL has a separate zip code, which Google maps places about 1 mile north of campus (I think because it doesn't recognize the zip code).  I put a link to Google maps in the "About Me" section, with the note, "Find me."

    A hive is where content gets added and stored.  It is a community space that is associated with "post types" which allow users to enter content, and then the posts are all stored in that space.  Additionally, you assign permissions to content at the hive level.  So, for your research hives (what you can automatically create), the hive is created, and you can enter and find content there.  Additionally, you can specify who has access to that hive, and can restrict it to just your research colleagues.

    Groups are aggregate spaces that allow you to collect information from various hives.  For example, the Teacher2Teacher group collects posts from all of the Teaching Resources and Teaching Methods hives.  You can specify how each portion of the screen displays content from various hives.  And the permissions from the hives remain consistent, so when 2 different users look at 1 group screen, they will often see different posts.  For example, in the Researcher2Researcher group, you will see the posts to your research teams at the top of the screen - and I will only see posts to my teams.

    The one thing I find tricky about this is that posts can't get entered directly from a group - you have to move to a hive to enter content.  As a result, we have updated the Teacher2Teacher screen to have quick links to help you post a teaching resource and teaching method - and those links take you to the appropriate hives.  (Many thanks to people for making this suggestion at the Annual Meeting!)

    Hi, Bill,

    I think the same thing happens for me - I  get a message that it will show me the map with the zip code and AZ.  When I click on that, I get very close to my office.

    The only thing I've thought about doing to overcome it is to put the street intersection into the addresss. My profile address became:

    Department of Information Systems
    W. P. Carey School of Business
    Lemon St. and College Ave.
    Tempe AZ 85287-4606

    And then google did a pretty good job.

    The other thing to consider is that we set up all of the profile fields to be private initially... so if you want others to be able to see your address (and the map), be sure to go back into your profile and change the privacy settings - they're to the left of each field, the row below each!

    Right now we can't do that - but it's a great suggestion!  I'll check with the platform provider to see if we can rearrange the names so that the last name is displayed first.

    And thanks for the feedback - we know we have a LOT to do to optimize the platform, but we hope  you start to get benefits from it right away.

    On each hive, there is a navigation bar at the top. On the far right side, there is a star and an envelope. If you click on the star, it will turn yellow. That means this hive is now included in your favorites. Your favorites are all shown under "Favorites" - a button at the very top of the screen. There is also a training video explaining this.

    You actually can add two different pictures to the AAACommons.  There is one picture that acts as your "avatar" - a picture that represents you on all of your posts and comments, and when AAACommons members are displayed graphically.  You can also have a more private photo which is only seen when a member goes to your profile.

    When you click on your name at the top of a page to go to your profile, and then click on "edit profile," you're automatically taken to the basic profile entry screen.  It is likely that you uploaded your photo here;  if so, you added it to your profile, but it isn't your avatar.  

    To add your avatar, notice that under the settings portion of the screen, there are three other links.  Click on the Identity link.  You'll  see that smiley face there, with a link to edit.  Upload another photo (or just click on the one you've already added).

    Once you save the picture, your avatar will really be you!
